Texas State Legislation
Texas has recently passed a controversial abortion bill. This bill would make getting an abortion in Texas very difficult, if not impossible.
One thing that is interesting is the makeup of the Texas Legislation. With such a firm stance on women’s bodies, you would think there would be quite a few women involved in the decision.
While over half the population is female in Texas (50.3 percent), they make up less than 25% of the state legislation. In addition, there are 3x’s as many men in the Texas government as women, and they still feel obligated to relegate a women’s body.
Though Texas has made laws about what women are allowed to do with their bodies, there seems to be no equivalent for males. For example, no law stating one must use condoms or get a vasectomy, just that women are not allowed to get an abortion.
