Texas Changes Gun Laws

As of September 1, 2021, you are no longer required to have any training or a permit in order to carry a handgun in public. As a result, anyone 21 or older can freely carry a gun without knowing how to use it.

Strangely enough, Texans were already allowed to carry rifles in public with no permit or training.

While this sounds insane that someone can carry a gun around with no permit or training, this is more common in America than not. Thirty-four states allow for open carry of a firearm with zero training and no permit.

Most Americans agree that licenses to carry are a good thing, most even support background checks, but the laws are going in the opposite of public opinion. Imagine not needing a license to drive a car or a doctor not requiring a medical license. Licenses are common practice and are an easy way to make sure not everyone can easily access these things until they know more about them.
