The Man Who Ate a Plane
Michel Lotito, also known by his stage name “Monsieur Mangetout,” which translates to Mr. Eat All, is one of the most fascinating people in human history. From 1959 to 1997, Lotto ate roughly nine tons of metal. Ranging from bikes to computers, Monsieur Mangetout would eat anything and everything.
One of the most impressive feats of Lotito’s career was his eating of an entire Cessna 150 Airplane. Lotito started eating this 1,000-pound object in 1978 and finished it off in 1980.
Along with eating an airplane, Monsieur Mangetout also ate 18 bicycles, 15 shopping carts, seven TVs, six chandeliers, three beds (including one waterbed), a pair of skis, a computer, 16,000 feet of chain, a coffin, and a Guinness world record plague.
Passing away in 2008 of natural causes, Michel Lotito was 57 years old and buried in his hometown of Grenoble, France.
