GeoGuessr
Over the past year and a half, traveling has not really been a thing thanks to the pandemic. One way I was able to get through this was by playing GeoGussr. GeoGussr is a website, or app, that places you somewhere randomly in the world, and you have to guess where you are. There are tons of different modes, and you can learn so much while playing a game.
Unless you are playing in the competitive mode against other people, each game consists of five rounds. Each round, you try and guess either precisely where you are, what country you are in, or what US state you are in, again depending on the game mode. One of my favorite modes is called streaks, and this is where you try and guess as many countries as possible or US states in a row, my record for countries is 20, and US states is 13.
Other than just playing a game, you learn a lot. Languages, flags, and license plates are all things you commonly see when playing the game and pick up on them quite quickly. Things like telling Korean and Japanese apart because Korean has much more circles in their alphabet, or knowing you are in Sri Lanka because you noticed their distinctive flag, and even if you see an all-green license plate, you are most likely in Vermont.
I have learned so much from playing this game and have also been able to escape to places around the world. The βproβ version costs $2.99 a month; however, a free version is available to play.
