2021 North Shore Trip
2021 will be my fourth year in a row going up to the North Shore of Minnesota for a couple of days in the fall for hiking and photography. Every year since 2018, I have gone to the northeast of Minnesota when fall colors are at their peak. This year I will be heading up this week. As a result, there will not be any daily stories for the next few days.
This year is my most ambitious yet, having only ever made it as far as Grand Marais. This year I plan to go all the way up to Grand Portage. From there, I will make my way back towards home, stopping at various places along the way.
This year’s stops include Grand Portage State Park, Judge CR Magney State Park for the iconic devil’s kettle, Temperance, and Tettegouche State Park. My favorite stop every year is Palisade Head. While not as extensive as the other places, I love something about this location. I will also be visiting the Bean Bear Lake loop for the first time this year and Gooseberry Falls State Park. Other than those, I will be stopping in Duluth for a little to explore the city and Jay Cooke State Park. After that, I will be back home to start editing all the photos I took and writing a story on my experience.
