Olympic Updates, July 22

With the opening ceremony just a day away, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics have started to heat up. In the first competition for the United States, the women’s softball team defeated Italy 2-0. Their next match will be versus Canada on July 24th.

The gold favorite, the US women’s soccer team, was stunned on July 20th when they lost 0-3 to Sweden. They have dug themselves quite a hole but still have a chance at Olympic glory. However, they will have to bounce back quickly with a must-win match against New Zealand on July 24th.

Other activities to start today are men’s and women’s air pistol training and air rifle training.

Tomorrow we will see more training from the air pistol and air rifle groups, dressage horse inspections, and rowing (singles, doubles, & quads).

Another big event tomorrow is the Opening Ceremony, the official start to the Tokyo Olympics. The opening ceremony will be starting at 6 a.m. with coverage on NBC.
